Why Train With Us At McClellan
The Fleet

Our Aircraft

Four aircraft, owned by the school and flown every day out of Sacramento McClellan: a Cessna 150 to learn in, an IFR-equipped Cessna 172N, a Cessna 172S with the Garmin G1000, and a Piper PA-44 Seminole for the multi-engine rating.

Two-seat trainer

Cessna 150

The economical way to learn the basics and to build hours. Two seats, simple systems, and the cheapest airframe here to put an hour in — which is exactly what a student repeating circuits wants.

IFR-equipped

Cessna 172N

Four seats and an IFR panel. This is the aeroplane most private pilot students finish in and most instrument students train in, and it carries a family on a cross-country afterwards.

Cessna 172S

The same airframe with a glass cockpit. Advanced avionics, instrument and commercial training happen here, because the panel you learn on ought to be the panel the job uses.

“Denis talked through every single thing before we moved, which is exactly what I needed — I’d been nervous about small planes for years. No sales pitch afterwards either, which I noticed.”

Discovery FlightGoogle
I booked a discovery flight for my husband’s fiftieth and ended up signing up myself. Denis talked through every single thing before we moved, which is exactly what I needed — I’d been nervous about small planes for years. No sales pitch afterwards either, which I noticed.

Private CheckrideGoogle
Passed my private checkride last month. Sergio is patient in a way that does not slow you down, and told me straight when I was not ready for the ride rather than letting me book it and fail. Scheduling around a full-time job took some doing but they never bumped me for someone else.
D. OseiGoogle · Mar 2026
SchedulingGoogle
Good instruction and an honest rate card — what you see is what you pay, and the aircraft are clean and well kept. Four stars only because the aeroplane you want is not always the one that is free, so if yours is in maintenance your lesson moves to another. They tell you upfront, but it is worth knowing before you start.

Training In Russian
English is my second language and I was worried about the radio. Being able to do the ground work in Russian and then switch to English in the cockpit made the difference. I fly solo now.
